We opted to start our own exploration of the high rockies trail by riding the roughly 17 km (10 miles) from driftwood day use area to buller creek (and back). Observed only from black shale suspension bridge to peninsula day use. Touch device users can explore by touch or with swipe.
The track gains 100m over 1 km before a short but steep climb over the last 50. Follow the cutline west for 500 metres to reach a blazed trail junction heading north. This section of the high rockies trail begins from the goat creek parking lot and is the starting point if riding the entire trail from north to south.
